Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia
Hulunbuir is a region located in the northeast of Inner Mongolia, Peoples Republic of China. Its administrative center is Hailar, the largest urban area in the region. Hulunbuir has a total area of 263,000 square kilometers, making it "the world's largest area of land under the jurisdiction of a regional city”. Hulunbuir is a border zone between 3 countries. It borders Russia to the north and west, Mongolia to the south and the west, and Heilongjiang province to the east.
The Hulunbuir grasslands is one of the four major grasslands in the world and is by many regarded the most beautiful. Major scenic features are the high steppes, the thousands of rivers and lakes, the Khingan range (Daxinganling) the Hulun and Buir lakes and.
The vast grasslands of Hulunbuir is the birthplace of many ethnic minority groups and nomadic people. Each minority have their own strong culture, traditions and customs, giving the area it’s unique multicultural flavor. The region has many important historical and religious sights.

Climate: The city proper of Hulunbuir itself (Hailar) has a humid continental climate bordering on a subarctic climate , although the northern part of the prefecture-level city is solidly subarctic. Winters are long, very dry and severe, due to the semi−permanent Siberian High, while summers are short, though very warm, and rather wet, due to the East Asian monsoon. There is a wide range of temperature within one day and there can be very big difference between day and night temperature.
